Members of the Local History Group have written this warm tribute to David .......
'Our last chairman, David Banks, announced recently that he was leaving the group, due to having many other commitments.
We would like to thank him for re-launching the Local History Group a year ago and for his substantial input into collating information on buildings and anecdotes in the village. He has worked tirelessly on a variety of ways of promoting the group, researching and re producing pictures of Bishop Monkton, some of which have been utilised in many forms.
His dedication to pursuing lines of interest has been very much appreciated, and along with the other members of the group, has already produced quite a substantial collection, now held by the group. Research into the pubs and an impressive amount on the ancient history of Bishop Monkton has taken place over the last year by the group, and now research has started about the mills.
We are sure that David will maintain a keen interest in the history of the village and he will be missed !'
