Beck gets its annual clean up

Heroes everyone of them!

A group of worthy villagers, suitably wrapped up against the cold weather, spent part of a day this week wading in the beck!

They were carrying out the important annual cleaning of the beck without which the risk of flooding would be increased.

Each year, under the leadership of Roger Baker, the team carries out this vital task, removing large quantities of foliage, branches, weeds and other debris from the water.

It is cold and back breaking work so every member of the team deserves our heartfelt thanks and appreciation.

The pictures on this page, some taken by David Banks, show just some of the volunteers. Apologies to everyone who is missed out!

In the teams cleaning the beck were: Roger Baker, Ron Wilkinson, Bob Upton, Mick Jackson, Richard Harper, David Banks, David Ralphs, Rodney Wilson, Peter Taplin, Peter Holley, Martin Shaw, Ken Barker, John Feeny, John Salmon, Tony Garnett, Chris Procter, Tom Parker, Martin Bethel and Brian Gordon.

Thanks, too,to Isobel Wilson, who brought the volunteers welcome cups of hot tea and coffee.
