The Mamma Mia! Sing Along in the Village Hall on Saturday night was a sell out with look alike models dressed as Anni Fred, Agnetha, Benny and Bjorn who formed the Swedish Group Abba back in the 70’s, provided a wonderfully colourful and lively evening.
When entering the hall, the decoration designed by Annabel Alton created an atmosphere that the
evening was going to be full of fun and singing to the film Mamma Mia! which provided sub-titles of the words to the many well-known songs still popular today, including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia!, The Winner Takes All, Gimme! Gimme Gimme!, Take a Chance on Me, Voulez-Vous, Money, Money, Money, S.O.S, Lay All Your Love on Me and I Have a Dream.
At the interval, in keeping with the Greek location of the film, Bron Upton with a group of helpers served a superb meal of moussaka together with a Greek salad and a special ice cream to follow.
Martin Bethel provided a magnificent range of wines, beer and soft drinks to accompany the fine meal.
After the interval Gerald Shervington presented a bottle of Prosecco wine to the best theme dress on the night which was won by Bron Upton with Angie Archbold second and receiving a box of chocolates Gerald himself, superbly dressed as one of the Abba boys, gave a hilarious star performance of a dialogue using the titles of all the Abba songs.
In addition to the BMEG Committee there were many people in addition who helped to make it a great night and virtually everyone had clearly gone to great lengths in dressing for the theme of the night. From the feedback to a survey which asked for suggestions for another sing along theme night BMEG will endeavour to organise a similar fun night when the Village Hall Committee has upgraded the sound system.
Thanks to all those who helped organise the event and those who attended it. The Entertainments Group looks forward to another sell out night sometime in the future.
BJORN (Shervington) after presenting prizes to the two best dressed ABBA Dancing Queens, namely Bron Upton (winner) and Angie Archbold (runner-up) at a fabulously lively and colourful showing of Mamma Mia! and sing song (plus moussaka) at the Village Hall on Saturday evening.
