FROM BMEG TO BROADWAY - How one ‘Monktoner’ made it on the big stage
Who would have thought way back in 2005 when BMEG (Bishop Monkton Entertainments Group) put on their first Pantomime in the new Bishop Monkton Village Hall, it would be the start of a young nine-year-old boy’s career on stage and would lead to him opening the World Tour of West Side Story in Munich seventeen years later?

Productions & Programmes from the Past
The Entertainments Group, founded in 1977, has put on numerous wonderful, professional and highly amusing productions. They are now in trouble with a lack of organising support, so anybody who has an interest please contact Kathryn as above.
A record compiled by David Richold of those he/we already have (top list) - can you fill in any of the gaps? Either the programmes or interesting photos.
We've had some updates and corrections!
Feb 2010 - A Boy & Snowball was produced by Emma Oates
Nov 2008 - Old Time Music Hall was produced by Kathryn Bethell and more 'Music Halls'?
In 1997 a Puss In Boots Pantomime produced by Angie Archbold & Sheila Parsons
At some point there was another Wizard of Oz produced by Emma Oates
and did Mother Goose appear somewhere? (thanks Angie)
As examples, a few programmes and pictures from some of these productions -
BMEG is part of the recent (and we trust, current) history of the village and as such, the Local History Group plan to include these and more in their website Bishop Monkton Yesterday (click here) - within Organisations. A selection of the programmes, photos (we already have over 1,000) and any interesting material will be included - sometime by early 2023.
