The Bowling Club held its annual Domino Evening. It was well attended by 60 players made up of bowlers and friends of the club.

Florence Bowes organised the usual super buffet which was enjoyed by all.

The evening raised approx £450 which will be used towards fertiliser and other feed for the club's super green.

The winners were Angela Spilsbury for the ladies and Jack Armstrong for the men with Angela being declared the overall victor. Christine Wood won the wooden spoon for having the lowest score!

A great 'double' for the men but the ladies have done well, too!

A short review of the  end of season activities by Basil Birchall

The winning team at Leyburn after being presented with the Dalesman Shield

As already publicised the Bowling Club men won the Dalesman League for the fifth successive year.

However no mention has been made of the Ladies performance in the Harrogate Ladies League
They came a very creditable third and as we have quite a few new and good  lady bowlers-they look forward to improving their position further next year !

The Bateson League was also won for the third time. The ast time we won was 2014 but by a  close margin - just 5pts.

We played  a Winners versus the Rest at Leyburn on  Friday Sept. 8.  A few of our regulars were on holiday but their replacements did well as we won 3 rinks to 2 and 84 shots to 66.

The last match of the season is always the Ladies v the Gents .As usual the  Gents won but the Ladies put up a strong performance giving them  hope for the future. This match is always followed by a splendid high tea and this year was no exception. Thanks again to Florence for organising this to to those who brought the 'goodies'.

Celebrating success for a fifth time

Men players celebrating at The Crown in Roecliffe.

This year we won Dalesmans League and won the League for the fifth year in succession but it was a much tighter finish than in previous years.

In  the last match against Kirkby Malzead we need to to win one  rink out of two to secure the League title. If Kirkby had won both they would  have won the title. We won one rink so secured the title.

A hard fought season!

This year's winners were Beryl Lawrence, Ann Staiano ably skipped by Danny  O'Connell.
The competition was followed by a super BBQ  cooked to perfection by  Paul Gosney, Paul Wardell and Mervyn BeecroftThe food was as usual well organised by Florence Bowes.
An enjoyable day was had by all.

Enjoying the BBQ after the match.
